What can be the cause of Blurry CCTV Camera picture
When you have a blurred image from your CCTV cameras there are a few possibilities you should check out before you decide to replace all your CCTV cameras with new ones.
Often there are different reasons depending on whether the blurriness is constant or comes and goes.
For
constant blurry images
When you have a constantly blurred image check the following:
·
Spiderwebs
Spiders love CCTV cameras lenses and living around them, unfortunately there is not a lot you can do apart from cleaning the lens with a soft brush or cloth. You can try placing some long acting insecticides around the camera, but avoid getting any on the lens or camera
·
Dust and Dirt
Your camera and lens will become dirty and dusty over time, so regular careful cleaning needs to be carried out at least every six months and more often in high traffic areas or places with lots of smoke or fumes
·
Cable length
Older style CCTV cameras that rely on a cable to send the images to your recording device are often prone to damage from movement, pest attack and interference from other electrical applications. The longer the cable, the lower the quality of the image you’re trying to capture will be
·
Cable Quality
It’s important to use a high quality cable; many cheaper cables are aluminium cored wire with a copper coating. These can give a poor quality or blurred picture. The IP systems are less likely to be affected by aluminium cabling, but if they are it gives a broken image rather than blurring
·
CCTV Cameras Adjustments
Often if you think that your CCTV cameras adjustments are the cause of blurring, it’s better to call in a qualified technician as self adjustment unless you really know what your doing can cause more problems
·
Focus
Are your CCTV cameras fixed lens cameras or varifocal, usually, the focus will not be a problem on fixed focus lenses and CCTV cameras with motorized zoom capabilities have auto focus so need a qualified technical to adjust them
·
Firmware updates
Modern CCTV camera manufacturers often need to be updated via the internet to adjust their programming. If you have not recently updated your CCTV cameras programs or are not sure how to, contact the manufactures or the place you purchased the CCTV cameras from to update and hopefully resolve your issues
Intermittent
Blurring
·
If your CCTV cameras blur
during the day only, then it’s possible the depth
of view is incorrectly set
·
If your CCTV cameras blur at
night only, then it’s likely you have an issue with infrared blockers, so they
do not work properly during dark periods
· Another problem is bounce back and reflected light that causes hazing or image blurring. You can also have problems with outside lights shining on the lens
CCTV cameras can be affected by electrical
fields of equipment being operated nearby and lack of routine maintenance.
